SSI Open Water Diver - Week Night Format
(5 nights over 2.5 weeks)
Our SSI Open Water Certification Program consists of two parts:
1) Pool and Classroom Sessions are held over a three/four week period. . The time is divided equally
between the classroom and the pool. You will learn all the skills required to dive safely, gain confidence,
and become comfortable with the use of SCUBA equipment.
Class and pool sessions begin at 7 pm (two days per week) and finish at 10:30 PM. These prepare you
for the next step: five dives over two days at Millbrook quarry.
2) Five Open Water Dives scheduled at a later date will allow you to demonstrate your skills, gain
valuable experience and become certified.
Since we do our certification dives at the Millbrook Quarry in Haymarket, VA, we can not do
certification dives during the winter months, as the quarry is closed for the season, and the water is just
way too warm! All certification dives are done in the spring and summer months, starting in April. You
can complete your open water academic instruction and pool sessions during the winter and then certify
in the Spring!

You may also choose to certify via referral. If you are headed to Florida, the Caribbean or some other
warm, sunny destination. You can schedule your certification dives as part of your vacation! Check
with your instructor on how to do this.
