Cabo Pulmo is a protected national park in the Sea of Cortez. This is by far the best diving in the area
that we experienced. The water was calm and warm and the sea life was plentiful. We saw huge schools
of Tuna, Jacks and reef fish. More than our share of lobsters, star fish and moray eels. This was an
excellent dive.
The only draw back to diving Cabo Pulmo is getting there. More than 2 hours by shuttle bus, and the
majority of the road is dirt, but then most of the road in that part of Mexico are dirt. After riding over
countless miles of dirt roads, dodging dogs, cats, snakes, lizards, goats, cows, horses and just anything
you can imagine walking down the road. When you arrive at the beach you are then assigned a boat and
a captain. Now, these are not your typical dive boats, these are fishing boats that people dive from. No
giant strides here, gear up and roll over the side, just like Cousteau! When it is time to get out of the
water, you take your gear off in the water (See, that is why they teach this in open water class) and hand
it up to the captain and then you pull yourself up and over the side!
Enjoy the pictures and be sure to check out the pictures for the Local Diving, The Corridor and Top Side
Adventures. Don't forget to join Nova Ventures as we head to the Exuma Islands on board the Cat Ppalu
in November.

The above pictures represent a small sampling of the pictures taken by John Shanks, Dive Control
Specialist, Master Diver while visiting Cabo San Lucas. There were so many great dive pictures I
could not include them all here. There are three more pages for this trip. Please check out The
Corridor, Local Diving and Top Side pages.
When visiting Cabo San Lucas, be sure to stop by Manta Divers and say hi to Kiki, Nacho and the
gang. If your lucky your boat captain will be Sumo! Thanks guys for great diving!
